I used 1 point perspective. The medium that I picked was pencil, because I enjoy that medium the most, and thought it would allow me to be the most precise with it. The photo that I drew was a photo of the hallway in my house, specifically my bedroom door. One thing that I found difficult about the project was the amount of precision and effort required to make an accurate display of the picture I drew.
My piece shows off the theme of "line" through the fact that the piece is showing lots of interesting patterns through the use of simple lines.
One way that my piece is successful is that the general idea of my piece is expressed, but if I were to do my piece again, I would change the piece by making more complicated and intricate patterns in my piece. After my piece came out of the kiln for the first time, I decided to use both glaze and paint to color my pottery. Glaze is a substance that you put on your pieces, and it changes into a glossy appearance and feel when fired in the kiln. I applied blue to the sky in my piece, and the lid black. Then my piece was ready to be put into the kiln. Already piece came out of the kiln, it was then glazeware. Glazeware is a ceramic ware that has been fired at a high temperature with glaze, which forms a coating of glass onto the surface. Firing a piece is when you hear pottery or clay sculptures to a temperature high enough to render the clay hard and durable. I then painted the rainbow on my piece, and then my piece was complete.
One thing that I find successful about my finished piece is the fact that the glass in the lid turned out really well, giving a cool look to the piece. If I were to do this one again, I would change the handle of he piece so hat it would be taller, and make the lid slide less on my piece. |
